Deep in the beautiful Welsh countryside stands one of the most incredible abandoned mansions we have ever explored… 🏚️ This enormous Grade I-listed mansion contains an unbelievable 102 rooms and looks like something straight out of Resident Evil. But behind its grand staircases, huge chandeliers and endless corridors lies more than 180 years of history. The mansion standing here today was constructed between 1836 and 1848, after the previous house on the site was destroyed by a devastating fire in 1836. It later became the home of one of Wales' most powerful aristocratic families and was eventually extended into the enormous 102-room estate we see today. In 1969, the mansion hosted the prestigious Investiture Ball for the then Prince Charles — now King Charles III — connected to his investiture as Prince of Wales at Caernarfon Castle. But Glynllifon also has a darker reputation… For generations, stories have surrounded the mansion about the supposed ghost of Maria Stella, Lady Newborough. Paranormal investigators and visitors have reported unexplained noises and strange bangs within the building, adding another layer of mystery to its already incredible history. After passing through numerous owners and failed attempts to transform the building into a luxury hotel, this once magnificent mansion fell further into decline. Then came one of the strangest chapters in its history. In April 2026, North Wales Police raided the mansion and uncovered what officers described as a significant cannabis grow. Police estimated that approximately 12 rooms on the top floor had been converted for growing mature cannabis plants, with electricity manipulated and water supplies diverted throughout parts of the building.
